Crash and diagnostic information

We may use PostHog for product analytics.

When PostHog is enabled, we intend to use the user's Firebase user identifier as the PostHog distinct identifier.

We do not intend to send your email address or name to PostHog for routine product analytics.

We may associate analytics profiles with high-level product-state properties such as:

  • Number of ranked restaurants

  • Number of saved restaurants

  • Number of saved videos

  • Friend count

  • Whether you have ranked a restaurant

  • Whether you have saved a restaurant from Discover

  • Whether onboarding has been completed

  • Whether specific tutorials have been completed

We do not intend to send the actual contents of your restaurant taste profile, private Collection names, private notes, or precise device location to PostHog as analytics event properties.

Some high-volume reliability and performance events may be sampled.

We also use Firebase and related Google services for app infrastructure, authentication, crash reporting, diagnostics, and related functionality.

I. Search Information

We may process search queries such as:

  • Restaurant searches

  • Location searches

  • Friend searches

  • Discover-location searches

Search information may be processed to return results, provide suggestions, improve usability, prevent abuse, and operate the Service.

J. Reports and Moderation Information

Users may report videos shown in Discover.

A report may contain:

Your user identifier

The reported video

Report category

Optional report details

Report timestamps

Report categories may include:

  • Not a restaurant

  • Sexual content

  • Violence

  • Hate

  • Spam

  • Copyright

  • Other

Reports may affect whether content remains eligible to appear in Discover.

3. Information From Third Parties

We may receive or generate information through services including:

Apple

Google

Firebase

Google Maps

Google People API

Foursquare

TikTok

Instagram and Meta

OpenAI

Apify

PostHog

Restaurant websites

Publicly available websites and services

Other map, restaurant, search, hosting, or infrastructure providers

Third-party information may include:

  • Restaurant names

  • Locations

  • Hours

  • Ratings

  • Cuisine information

  • Photos

  • Social-media metadata

  • Captions

  • Creator information

  • Transcripts

  • Thumbnail URLs

  • Public business information

Third-party information may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or subject to the provider's separate terms and privacy practices.

4. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing

NextBite uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, transcription, moderation, search, and automated-processing systems to operate the Service.

These systems may be used to:

  • Determine whether submitted content appears restaurant-related

  • Extract restaurant names and locations

  • Extract dish or food information

  • Create structured restaurant records

  • Transcribe spoken content

  • Analyze slideshow images

  • Select or evaluate restaurant imagery

  • Enrich restaurant information

  • Detect potentially unsafe content

  • Moderate Discover eligibility

  • Reject clearly non-restaurant or unsafe saves

  • Improve extraction accuracy and product quality

Providers may include OpenAI and other service providers.

Information sent to these systems may include:

  • Submitted URLs

  • Captions

  • Transcripts

  • Restaurant names

  • Restaurant hints

  • Thumbnail URLs

  • Social-media images

  • Slideshow images

  • Audio or video media used for transcription

  • Public restaurant information

We do not intentionally include your email address or NextBite account name in ordinary AI-processing prompts.

Automated systems may make mistakes.

A submitted video may be rejected or excluded from Discover if automated systems determine with sufficient confidence that it is not restaurant-related or may contain prohibited or unsafe content.

5. Temporary Media Processing

NextBite does not generally host or stream permanent copies of TikTok or Instagram video files for playback.

TikTok and Instagram videos shown inside NextBite are generally played using those platforms' official or supported web-embedding mechanisms.

However, certain processing workflows may temporarily access or download third-party media in order to generate transcripts or other restaurant-related information.

For example, Instagram media may temporarily be downloaded to NextBite-controlled processing infrastructure for transcription and deleted after the processing step completes.

Third-party services such as Apify may also access platform content when performing scraping, transcript, slideshow, or enrichment tasks requested by NextBite.

6. TikTok and Instagram Embeds

NextBite may display TikTok and Instagram videos inside the app using web-based embedded players.

TikTok playback may use TikTok's embedded player.

Instagram playback may use Instagram oEmbed content and Instagram's embed scripts.

When an embedded player or related platform resource loads, your device connects directly to TikTok, Instagram, Meta, or their content-delivery providers.

These third parties may receive information normally associated with web requests, such as:

  • IP address

  • User-agent or browser/device information

  • Cookies or website data associated with their domains

  • Requested post or video identifiers

  • Referrer or request-header information

  • Interaction with the embedded player

NextBite does not send your NextBite email address or NextBite user identifier to TikTok or Instagram as part of ordinary embedded playback.

NextBite may prepare or preload adjacent embedded videos after you enter a video-player experience in order to improve playback performance.

TikTok and Instagram process information according to their own privacy policies.

7. Thumbnails, Images, and Restaurant Photos

NextBite may display, cache, process, resize, crop, or store images used to provide restaurant experiences.

Sources may include:

  • Foursquare

  • Restaurant websites

  • Public online sources

  • TikTok or Instagram thumbnail images

  • Social-media slideshow images

  • Restaurant-place providers

  • User profile images

Some images may be processed into shared restaurant hero images and stored in NextBite-controlled storage.

NextBite does not claim ownership of third-party images merely because they are processed or displayed through the Service.

9. Global Restaurant and Video Records

To avoid repeatedly processing the same restaurant or public social-media content, NextBite may create shared or canonical records.

For example, information generated from one user's save may contribute to:

  • A shared restaurant record

  • A restaurant image cache

  • A shared video record

  • Discover eligibility

  • Public or platform-derived restaurant metadata reused for other users

Shared records may contain restaurant facts, social-media metadata, content identifiers, captions, transcript excerpts, thumbnails, and restaurant associations.

We do not intentionally include the submitting user's NextBite user identifier in Discover cards.

10. PostHog Analytics

When enabled, PostHog is used to analyze product usage and improve NextBite.

We may send PostHog:

  • A pseudonymous account identifier

  • Event names

  • App surface

  • Platform

  • Video or restaurant identifiers where needed for product analysis

  • Google People API

Firebase and Google may process device, account, diagnostic, network, and service-use information according to their own terms and privacy policies.

12. Friends, Visibility, and Sharing

NextBite includes features that allow users to interact with friends.

Your friends may be able to view your saved restaurants and certain restaurant-related activity.

Restaurant Collections are currently private and are not shared through the Friends system.

NextBite does not currently provide live-location sharing.

If you comment on or like friend activity, that activity may be visible to users who can access that social surface.

13. Usage Limits

NextBite may enforce usage limits for features such as restaurant saves, video-processing jobs, AI processing, or other resource-intensive actions.

Current limits may be changed as the Service evolves.

14. Payments and Subscriptions

NextBite is currently free unless otherwise stated.

We may introduce subscriptions, in-app purchases, paid tiers, premium features, or other monetization in the future.

If paid features are introduced, we will update relevant disclosures as required.

15. Sale, Sharing, Advertising, and Tracking

NextBite does not currently:

  • Sell personal information

  • Share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising

  • Operate third-party advertising inside the Service

  • Use personal information for third-party targeted advertising

  • Use Apple's IDFA for advertising

  • Use Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission because NextBite does not currently engage in tracking that requires ATT permission

If these practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any legally required notice or choices.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information for internal analytics, product development, restaurant-trend analysis, research, operational planning, or business intelligence.

We do not attempt to re-identify properly de-identified information except where permitted by law to test or maintain de-identification protections.
